Sell your car for free — no commission

Three short steps. Most sellers finish in under two minutes.

Free to publish — no commission on your sale No account needed Buyers reach you on WhatsApp Keep or sell the plate separately

Where can I sell my car in Saudi Arabia? On KSAplate you can list it for free, nothing is taken from the sale price, and buyers contact you directly on WhatsApp. Once you agree a price, ownership moves online through Absher for about SAR 380 in total, and a distinctive plate can be kept or sold separately.

Step 1/3: Your car

Your car

Just the basics — you can add the rest later.

Choose a make first

Before you list: get the price right

Asking price decides how fast a car sells in Saudi Arabia more than anything else in the listing. Work out the private-sale range for your make, model, year and mileage first, then decide where in that range you want to sit — the top of it takes patience, the bottom of it sells this week.

Buyers here compare on the same handful of things: mileage against the year, GCC specification, service history, accident history and whether the istimara and periodic inspection are current. Anything you can document, document — it is the difference between a full-price offer and a haggle.

Buyers call or message you directly on WhatsApp. Arrange the viewing and agree the price between you.

You start the sale in Absher, the buyer accepts, adds insurance and pays into the escrow account, and ownership moves when they confirm receiving the car.

Ways to sell a car in Saudi Arabia, compared

Four ways to sell, and what each one costs you in time, money and effort. The plate column is the one most sellers forget.

Way to sell How fast Price you get Your effort Your licence plate
Private sale on KSAplate Days to weeks — the price decides Highest: you set it You answer buyers and complete the Absher transfer Value it and sell it separately in the same place
Dealer trade-in Same day Lowest: the dealer has to resell it Low: they handle the paperwork Goes with the car unless you retain it first
Instant car-buying company Same day, after an inspection Below a private sale Low: they handle the paperwork Goes with the car unless you retain it first
General classifieds Days to weeks — the price decides Market price, often after haggling You answer buyers and complete the Absher transfer Goes with the car unless you retain it first

Car-for-sale ad template

Copy it, fill in the brackets and paste it into your listing description.

For sale: [Make] [Model] [Year]
Mileage: [000,000] km
Specification: [GCC / imported]
Condition: [no accidents / details]
Service history: [available / not available]
Istimara and periodic inspection valid until: [month/year]
City: [city]
Price: [00,000] SAR ([negotiable / fixed])
Contact: WhatsApp [number]
  • Write the real mileage — buyers check it at the viewing.
  • Mention accidents and repairs up front; hiding them costs you the sale later.
  • Use daylight photos from every side, plus the dashboard and the interior.
  • Say whether the plate is included, kept or for sale separately.

Clear these before a buyer turns up

  • Traffic fines in your name — they do not block the transfer while the istimara and inspection are valid, but buyers will ask, so know the total.
  • An expired istimara or periodic inspection — renew before you list, not after.
  • A bank lien on a financed car — the finance has to be settled for ownership to move.
  • The licence plate — decide now whether it goes with the car, moves to your next vehicle, or sells on its own.

Selling a car in Saudi Arabia — FAQ

Is listing my car free, and do you take a commission?
Free to publish one listing, live for 30 days. Nothing is taken from the sale price — you deal with the buyer directly and keep the full amount.
Where can I sell my car in Saudi Arabia?
You have four realistic options: list it on KSAplate and deal with buyers directly, trade it in at a dealer, sell it to an instant car-buying company, or post it on general classifieds. A private sale usually gets the highest price because no middleman needs a resale margin; the comparison on this page shows the trade-offs in speed, price and effort.
How can I sell my car fast?
Price it inside the private-sale range from a free valuation, add clear daylight photos and the real mileage, sort the paperwork before you list (valid istimara and periodic inspection, no bank lien) and answer WhatsApp messages quickly. More than anything else, the price decides how fast a car sells.
What information do I need to list my car?
Make, model and year, the real mileage, at least one photo, an asking price (or "price on request"), and a contact number. City, service history, accident history and specification are optional but they are the fields serious buyers filter and judge on.
What documents do I need to sell my car in Saudi Arabia?
For the Absher vehicle sale service, both you and the buyer need Absher accounts, the car needs a valid istimara and periodic inspection, it must not be flagged as stopped, lost or wanted, and the agreed price has to be between SAR 500 and SAR 1,000,000. The buyer adds insurance in their own name before the transfer completes.
How do I sell my car through Absher?
After you agree a price, you start the vehicle sale in Absher with the buyer's ID and the price. The buyer accepts in their own Absher account, adds insurance in their name and pays the price plus the SAR 230 Absher fee into the escrow account. Ownership moves once the buyer confirms receiving the car, and the SAR 150 traffic fee is paid separately through SADAD.
Can I sell my car if I have unpaid traffic fines?
Yes. Saudi traffic police (Muroor) confirm that fines in the owner's name do not stop the ownership transfer, as long as the istimara and periodic inspection are valid. Pay them anyway — they stay on your record after the car has gone.
Do I need to create an account to list a car?
No. You can complete the listing as a guest — the contact number you enter is how buyers reach you. Signing in simply lets you edit, renew or remove the listing later from your dashboard.
How long does it take to sell a used car in Saudi Arabia?
It depends almost entirely on price. A car listed at or slightly below the private-sale range with clear photos and an honest description usually moves within a few weeks; one listed at the optimistic end can sit for months. Check the free valuation before you set your asking price.
Can I sell the car and its licence plate together?
Yes, and you can also separate them. If the plate is distinctive it may be worth more sold on its own or transferred to your next vehicle before the sale. KSAplate runs both markets, so you are not forced to bundle a valuable plate into the car price.
What if my car is still financed?
A bank lien blocks the ownership transfer on Absher, so it has to be settled before the sale can complete. In practice sellers either pay the balance off first or arrange for the buyer's payment to clear the finance directly with the bank.
How do I write a car-for-sale ad?
Lead with make, model, year and real mileage, then condition, service and accident history, GCC or imported specification, city and price. Add daylight photos from every side and the dashboard with the mileage showing. The template on this page gives you a ready-made format to copy.
