The line is the median asking price of live listings in the selected segment, recorded once a day since 24 Aug 2026. Green dots are plates a seller marked sold; where the seller did not disclose the final figure we show the price it was listed at, and say so. Segments with fewer than 8 listings show no median.

Read this as a record of headline sales, not as a price index. Only exceptional plates get reported, and Saudi plate auctions went from a few editions a year to roughly monthly — which pushes the reported maximum up on its own. The December 2025 hammer price is below the April 2024 one.

Modelled estimates, not observed sales. Digit count moves the price far more than anything else — dropping from four digits to one is worth more than every letter effect combined.

Where these numbers come from

Auction results

Reported by news outlets and linked in the table above. Saudi Arabia publishes no auction results archive, so press coverage is the only public record. We show hammer prices; where VAT and commission were also reported, they appear underneath.

Asking prices

Taken from plates currently listed on KSAplate.com. These are what sellers ask, not what buyers paid. We show the 10th to 90th percentile so a few extreme listings do not distort the picture, and we hide any bucket with fewer than eight listings.

Modelled estimate

Our own valuation model, calibrated against private-market listings and documented auction results. It is an estimate, not an observed price — the same engine that powers the plate calculator.

What we do not claim

We do not publish a price index or a trend line. There is no continuous public record of Saudi plate transactions, and the reported sales are too few and too concentrated in recent years to measure how the market has moved over time. Anyone showing you a smooth upward curve for Saudi plates is drawing it, not measuring it.

15 questions about the Saudi plate market

The questions people actually search for, answered with the data on this page.

What is the median price of a Saudi license plate right now?
Across the 12,007 plates listed on KSAplate, the median asking price is 5,600 SAR. By digit count: four-digit 3,400 SAR, three-digit 26,500 SAR, two-digit 42,500 SAR, single-digit 293,500 SAR. These are live asking prices, recalculated from the listings themselves.
Which Saudi plate auction results are documented with a source?
The table on this page lists every auction result traceable to a named outlet — 9 confirmed hammer prices between 2007 and 2025, each row linking to its source. The highest is SAR 21 million for ع 1 at an Absher e-auction in April 2024.
How is this page different from the plate value calculator?
The calculator estimates one specific plate from its letters and number. This page shows observed market data instead: documented auction results, sales recorded here, and the spread of asking prices across live listings. Use the calculator for a figure, and this page to sanity-check it against the market.
What do single-digit plates ask on KSAplate right now?
Across 224 listings the median asking price is 293,500 SAR, with most between 73,600 – 1,514,100 SAR. Single-digit numbers are the scarcest category in the Kingdom, and at auction they have reached far higher — ع 1 sold for SAR 21 million and ط 1 for SAR 4.15 million.
What do two-digit plates ask on KSAplate right now?
Across 793 listings the median asking price is 42,500 SAR, with most between 21,000 – 149,000 SAR. Exceptional two-digit combinations go far above that band — م م 22 sold at auction for SAR 1.47 million in March 2023.
What do three-digit plates ask on KSAplate right now?
Across 1,956 listings the median asking price is 26,500 SAR, with most between 8,650 – 99,250 SAR. Repeating triples such as 777 or 999 and palindromes such as 121 sit at the top of that band.
What do four-digit plates ask on KSAplate right now?
Across 8,707 listings the median asking price is 3,400 SAR, with most between 850 – 36,000 SAR. This is the most common and therefore the cheapest tier; four identical digits such as 7777 can be worth many times a plain four-digit number.
Does Absher publish plate auction results?
No. Bids on mazad.absher.sa are visible only while an auction window is open, and there is no results archive — nothing on Absher, moi.gov.sa or open.data.gov.sa. That is why the only public record of what Saudi plates sell for comes from news coverage of notable sales, which is what the auction table on this page collects, each row with its source.
How often are Saudi plate auctions held and how do I take part?
The General Directorate of Traffic runs electronic auctions through Absher, now roughly monthly, in short windows of about 24 to 36 hours. You browse the offered plates on mazad.absher.sa, pay a refundable SAR 1,000 deposit, then bid. Winners pay through the bank account linked to their Absher profile. Plate types covered are private, private transport and motorcycle.
What fees do I pay on top of the winning bid?
A winning auction bid attracts 15% VAT plus a commission of about 2.5%, on top of the hammer price. The SAR 1,000 deposit paid to enter is refundable if you do not win. Issuing a plate with a special emblem carries a one-off fee of around SAR 800. Confirm the current amounts on Absher before bidding — fee schedules change.
How much does a long plate without an emblem cost?
A standard long-format plate with no special emblem is the cheapest option — reported starting points are around SAR 100 for the plate itself, with the entry-level bronze tier at Absher auctions opening from about SAR 100 and many lots closing between SAR 200 and SAR 500. Emblem and pattern are what create the price gap between a standard plate and a distinctive one.
Are Saudi license plate prices going up?
There is not enough public data to say. The highest reported price has risen from SAR 6.4 million in 2007 to SAR 21 million in 2024, but that is a record series, not a price index: auctions went from a handful of editions a year to roughly monthly, which lifts the reported maximum on its own, and there is no continuous transaction record. The December 2025 hammer price of SAR 13.4 million was below the April 2024 one. Anyone showing you a smooth upward curve for Saudi plates is drawing it, not measuring it.
What is the median time from listing to sold?
Not yet measurable. Time from listing to sold needs plates whose listing date we can stand behind, and we do not have enough of those yet. The figure appears here once we do.
Are the figures on this page asking prices or confirmed sale prices?
Both, kept strictly apart. The auction table holds confirmed hammer prices reported by news outlets. The bars and medians are asking prices from live listings — what sellers want, not what buyers paid. Sales recorded here show the price the plate carried when it was marked sold, and are labelled a listed price, because no agreed figure has been disclosed for any of them.
Where does the data on this page come from?
Three separate sources, never blended: press-reported auction results with a link to each outlet; plates recorded as sold on KSAplate, shown at the price they were listed at and dated from when we recorded them; and the asking prices of listings currently online. Most of the recorded sales are reference plates from our own catalogue, recorded in a single batch, and the page says so where the figure appears. Our own valuation model is used only where a figure is explicitly labelled an estimate.
